BLOG REPORT #3, September 2014
Traveling and blogging… a good idea?
Yes, we finally made it… to Machu Picchu :). The whole September we traveled from one great spot to another. We had an awesome time BUT… we had no time to post a lot and to be active on our social media platforms. Our analytics numbers are decreasing and we gained almost no new followers, email subscribers etc.
A bad sign? Should we stop blogging?
A change of plan is needed. We need to travel slower! Over 50 posts are waiting to be written. Even if we post something new every second day we would need 100 days! That’s a lot! Therefore we decided to volunteer again in a hostel in Valparaiso, Chile. We want to stay here for at least 2 months and write, write, write. On our way to became a professional travel blogger we first want to generate great content for the blog before starting with marketing and sales promotion.
Last month achievements and statistics
The analytics numbers are terrible but at least I had a small success. I finally set up the first follow up emails for new newsletter subscribers. A great tool from AWeber! What does it mean?
Well, basically everybody who sign’s up for our newsletter gets a newsletter every few days. The great thing about it, we don’t have to do anthing. Once set up, AWeber will send it automatically. You can send hundreds of emails. Of course we don’t want to spam our readers and we need to find out which email has a good opening rate and makes sense but it is a great tool to get readers to your site. As soon as we have a better understanding what our readers want, I will let you know.
Here are our statistics for September

Goals for OCTOBER
We want to write at least 10 posts in this month. One post will be about our golf course test of the highest golf course in the world. We finally want to post something for our golfers. It will also be interesting to see how we perform on our social media platforms when we post and tweet more often. We still have the goal of 700 facebook fans and 4000 page views. Fingers crossed :).
That’s it for now. Have a great October!
Cheers and safe travels!
I love your statistics breakdown! I’ve only just started travel blogging, so I have a looooong way to go, but I decided to just enjoy writing blog posts and reading tons of other people’s blogs before worrying about my numbers
Your statistics still look pretty good, considering you haven’t been too active.

Thanks for your message. I totally agree with you. As long as writing is your passion, numbers don’t matter! Thanks for coming by and keep on posting
